For fine dining, head to Samarkanda

Established in 1994, Samarkanda introduces a fine dining element to the station. It also has the best location in the vast station! Overlooking the tropical gardens, the restaurant and gastrobar pretty much takes over one end of the Embarcadero. Located over two floors, it also features a lovely terrace area, which makes the most of the fab views. In addition to its menu, the restaurant also sets itself apart from other eateries in the station with its surroundings and decor. For instance, on the upper level, the restaurant is housed within a colonial-style mansion and highlights the wrought iron features of the old station building.

The restaurant specialised in Spanish cuisine and offers mains from 15 to 25 Euros. It also has a great wine and cocktail menu and welcomes people who just want to have a drink or two.

Where to find it

The restaurant and gastrobar has a prime spot overlooking the tropical gardens in the Embarcadero. You can find it on the far side of the gardens – the other side of where the train platforms and bulk of shops are. It’s close to the entrance by Plaza Emperador Carlos V. On the ground floor of the Embarcadero, the restaurant is next to the Burger King. To get to the upper level part of the restaurant, use the escalators in front of the Burger King.
