Il Caffe di Roma, an Italian cafe in Spain
Il Caffe di Roma is one of the cafes available at Madrid Atocha. In addition to a good selection of hot and cold refreshments, it also offers a range of snacks including sandwiches and cakes. There is seating available so you can choose to eat in as well as take your food and drink to go.
The brand was first set up in Spain in 1994. The concept was to recreate the typical atmosphere of a traditional Italian cafes. They clearly did a good job because it was bought by Italian coffee company, Lavazza, in 1999. As well as having a cafe in Madrid’s biggest train station, it has coffee shops all over the world.
Where to find it
The Madrid Atocha coffee shop has a great location, linking the taxi drop-off zone on the lower level of the station and opening out into the Embarcadero (where the tropical gardens are) area of the station. In the image above, look for the illuminated clock on the left of the picture and continue left and you’ll see the café.
